Happy Chocolate Chip Day! Yes in case you guys were unaware, May 15th is Chocolate Chip Day. Honestly I am not very good with remembering these food days but this day I had to, after all there’s chocolate ♥ I was thinking about it the other day, I always get the 72 oz bag of chocolate chips from Costco and I have finished several of those in the last 2 years. Seriously that’s tons of chocolate chips and I have consumed everything! Okay maybe not consumed all but still that’s way too much! I think I need help. I feel like adding...Continue reading
Even after making breads at home for more than 3 years now, I still feel the same excitement as I did when I baked my 1st bread. The fact that it was a complete failure is a different story altogether. It was hard like a rock and I swear I could throw it on the wall and nothing would happen to it. YES, that rock solid! I always have a good laugh whenever I remember that incident.
Anyway so because tomorrow is Mother’s Day, I thought of sharing another brunch recipe and what better than...Continue reading
I think more than anything else, if there’s one thing constant in my kitchen, it has to be ripe bananas. Seriously I buy bananas every week and we never finish them on time. So they start turning brown and neither me nor hubby can eat those brown-black bananas, we simply can’t. I throw away a lot of things (I know such a bad habit, really need to change) but I never throw over-ripe bananas and that makes me feel slightly better about throwing all the other stuff.
This time around I had 2...Continue reading
What do I say about banana bread that hasn’t been said already. Countless versions of this bread are available on the internet and rightly so after all this has to be the most popular bread that is made in every household. Have you seen a cafe without a slice of banana bread on their counter? I doubt! Even in a country like India where baking is still not that popular, people do make banana breads at home.
What I love about banana bread is that it’s so flavorful and so easy to...Continue reading
So I had a wonderful weekend! For those unaware, Cricket World Cup has begun and cricket in India is like football in US maybe even bigger. Cricket is a religion in India and cricketers are worshiped, no kidding! It’s the only thing that unites more than 1.2 billion people in the country. India is the defending world champion, winner of 2011 world cup and we played our first match in the tournament yesterday against arch rivals Pakistan and we WON! Wohooo! The match started around 7 PM PST and went on till 4 am, so yeah we were awake the whole night but because we won, it was all worth it!...Continue reading
How’s your weekend going guys? Doing something special or trying out any new recipes? I am having a rather lazy weekend and I really blame the weather for it. While it doesn’t snow much on this side, it has been so rainy and grey that I just don’t feel like getting out of my bed. It has been raining non-stop and looking outside my window, I sometimes feel that maybe I would take snow over this! Seriously it’s so GREY. Ugh.
But if there’s...Continue reading
Isn’t banana the most wonderful fruit as far as baking is concerned? I swear people make more banana bread than any other bread and there is a reason for it. Bananas not only add a lot of flavor but also make the baked good incredibly moist. I always buy more bananas than I can possibly consume before they start turning all brownish. Ok I confess, I deliberately buy extra so that I can bake them with them once they are all nice and ripe and this time around I made these mini banana...Continue reading
Pumpkin Streusel Muffins – most pumpkin muffins topped with delicious oats streusel. Perfect for fall!
There are pumpkins everywhere. Literally. Yesterday I went to Trader Joe’s and all I could see was pumpkin and pumpkin products. There was pumpkin butter, pumpkin bars, pumpkin chai, pumpkin cereal, pumpkin ravioli, pumpkin granola, pumpkin oatmeal and 10,000 other stuff which I can’t seem to remember! Didn’t I say there are...Continue reading
It’s that time of the year again! The time when you start seeing the beautiful fall colors , the time when you seem pumpkins all around, yes it’s Fall! This has to be my favorite time of the year, everything seems festive and full of life during fall. I think I am falling in love with yeast, no seriously I always thought I enjoyed baking cakes and cookies more than anything else but these days I am always looking for ways to play around with the yeast. From being terrified of yeast to falling in love, it has indeed been quite a journey. Working with yeast is just so much fun, it really is! From breads to buns to pretzels to rolls, yeast is what turns an ordinary dough into all these lip-smacking yuminess! I have worked...Continue reading
