Fresh Tomato Salsa

3 years back when I moved to US, I was introduced to an array of world cuisines.  I was so fascinated by the different cuisines, the different recipes and how every cuisine is different yet similar and that’s when when my wonderful love affair with food began. I was someone who always enjoyed good food but was never a foodie and hence never really explored food options back home like foodies do. How I fell so passionately in love with cooking is still a mystery to me. For now I can’t think beyond cooking and my blog, it’s on my mind 24 X 7! Life can sometimes be so unpredictable.

Anyway back to the recipe, what I wanted to say was that I was introduced to so many cuisines in US but the one which I love instantly was Mexican cuisine. I think the reason was it’s similarity to Indian cuisine. Even if I couldn’t eat Indian food, Mexican food was able to satisfy my taste buds. Mexican food is definitely one of my favorites when we eat out. The only flip side though is I can’t stop munching on the chips and salsa! Seriously the tomato salsa is so good and it also helps and it’s so easy to make at home.

Tomato Salsa

This recipe uses fresh tomatoes, mostly the salsa you find in restaurants is made using canned tomatoes. So this isn’t like the salsa you get in restaurants but rather a simple salsa recipe using fresh tomatoes. This can be put together in minutes. Just chop everything and mix them together and voila you are done! Super simple.

You can adjust seasoning to your taste. I can’t eat very spicy food and hence I used a small jalapeno pepper and also added little sugar to my salsa. The sugar is completely optional and  the quantity of jalapeno pepper can be adjusted to taste. Also, use white onion for the recipe, works better for the salsa! Enjoy the salsa immediately with some corn chips.

* Some liquid will accumulate if you leave the salsa around for a while. To serve, stir and drain all the liquid.
