Yogurt Granola Breakfast Bowl

Let’s talk about breakfast. I know I talk about it quite a bit, well I can’t really help. Breakfast is just so important that whenever I get an opportunity I cannot hold myself from talking about the same. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and there is a reason behind it. Your brain needs glucose to function efficiently after a long all night break without food and when you deprive the brain of it, well your efficiency goes for a toss. No seriously without food in the morning, you are likely to be more irritable and feel tired throughout the day.

When I was a kid, I never cared enough for breakfast. I remember mom running after me in the morning with a glass of milk in one hand and a sandwich or paratha in another before I left for school. And I would do all that I could to avoid having that breakfast. I would make up a number of excuses but of course my mom would not let me leave house without eating something. I remember once I told her “I’ll puke immediately if I eat this” and she replied with a very straight face “that’s fine, you eat, puke and then you can go but you have to eat first”. That trick clearly didn’t work!

Fast forward to few years and things started to change. When I was in college, I started realizing the importance of breakfast. I guess it happened because I realized that I gorged on all the unhealthy stuff on days when I skipped my breakfast. And whenever I had a nice healthy breakfast, my body didn’t really crave for the junk that much, it had to do with the fact that there was already something in the stomach so maybe the junk appeared less appealing.

And then I got married and life came a full circle. Hubby would not eat breakfast, no matter what. According to him he just couldn’t eat anything in the morning and that was the end of discussion as far as breakfast was concerned. But after understanding how important breakfast is, I was determined to not give up. I started asking him to eat like a banana or an apple in the beginning and after some time he actually started eating. And now after 3 years of marriage, he asks for breakfast himself! He now says he’s hungry in the morning, what a contrast from what he was in the beginning! This just proves all habits can be changed and if they are not good for your health, then you must change them anyway.

I think one of the main reasons people skip breakfast is because of the morning rush. Seriously who has the time to make an elaborate breakfast on weekdays and that is the reason people just skip it altogether. As much as I love to cook, mornings on weekdays are meant for something quick , easy and delicious. I can never miss my breakfast and it has to be super quick too and that is why I absolutely love Nestlé Carnation Breakfast Essentials. It comes in some amazing flavors like French Vanilla, Strawberry and my favorite Rich Milk Chocolate! I found them at my local Kroger store.

With Carnation Breakfast Essentials Powder, a delicious and quick breakfast is longer a distant dream. The options are endless but one of my favorite is this chocolate yogurt & granola breakfast bowl. I just love how quickly this comes together, like literally in 5-10 minutes. I added only 1 sachet of the Carnation Breakfast Essentials Powder for 2 of us because I feel that it enough to give that chocolate flavor to the yogurt without going overboard. You can definitely add more. Besides who doesn’t like eating chocolate for breakfast?
