How’s your weekend going? I am just lazing around, the last week was pretty hectic so I’m taking it easy for the weekend. It has started to get cold suddenly, like I don’t know it was not this cold last week and from the last 3-4 days the air has become cold. My pillow, my bed sheet, the wall of my room, everything has started to turn cold. It all points out to one thing > Winter is coming! Winters means more hot chocolate and probably that’s the only reason I look forward to this season.
And what better way to start this winter season than pumpkin spice hot chocolate?
This chocolate drink is for chocolate lovers because I added in quite a bit of cocoa powder and that’s why I call it “Dark Hot Chocolate”. It’s really rich and chocolaty and if you are a chocolate lover like me, you will enjoy this. If not, well probably then you can add half of cocoa into the drink, but really how can you not like chocolate?
This stuff is so good with tons of cocoa powder, cinnamon powder and pumpkin pie spice. I can have this in the morning every day of the year, if not for the calories *sigh*. I never get this, why all delicious things in this world make us fat? It would be so wonderful if we were told to eat chocolates, cookies and cupcakes to stay fit and healthy. That would be my ideal world!
But back to reality and this recipe. For this hot chocolate I used unsweetened good quality cocoa powder. Because the taste of the drink depend entirely on the type of cocoa powder you use, I highly recommend to use a good brand. I made this particular recipe with whole milk, to make it creamier and richer in taste – use 1/2 cup milk and 1/2 cup half & half. Marshmallows are optional, but I love them with my hot chocolate. Another good topping will of course be whipped cream, which sadly I’m not a big fan of. I know I am weird that way but I like my hot chocolate as such without any cream on top.
This rich hot chocolate is bursting with pumpkin spice, cinnamon and tons of chocolate. You need to make this!
* Adjust sugar and cocoa powder to taste. If you are not a fan of dark chocolate, cut down the cocoa powder to half.

Yum! That looks perfect for a cold winter day Manali! I love how dark and chocolate-y it is. It is unfortunate that all the tastiest things are unhealthy isn’t it?! Being able to eat as much chocolate as I would like to would be an ideal world! 🙂
