Rose Cardamom Milkshake

My husband goes for indoor rock climbing twice a week. This started last year and since then he has been super regular with it. I have always been a gym girl but my hubby? He never liked the gym. I dragged him with me to the gym so many times but he would get bored and not want to come the next day. He has always been someone who enjoys playing different sports and doing adventurous stuff so maybe gym was not his thing. Well it took me some time to understand that but I did and since then I have been wishing for him to find something he enjoys doing and he finally has. He never misses his rock climbing. Since he goes after work, he wanted me to come along as well and so I did. It was okay for a while but just like he doesn’t enjoy the gym, I didn’t enjoy the rock climbing. But I found a way to accompany him! There’s a gym right next to the rock climbing thing and I joined that. Smart right? This way we both get to do what we like and I also get to accompany him and he doesn’t have to feel guilty for leaving poor wifey at home until late in the night! ?

Rose Cardamom Protein Shake-2

And since we both are into this workout routine, we obviously need protein shakes to get going. My favorite these days is this Rose Cardamom Protein Shake.

My rose cardamom protein shake is inspired from one of my favorite drinks from childhood. Mom used to make a similar milkshake for us (minus the protein powder of course!) and we used to drink it all the time especially during summers. This protein shake is just a twist on that drink! The rose syrup is already sweetened so I did not add any sugar here. You can find this rose syrup at any Indian grocery store.

  1. Hello Manali,
I have started cooking finally and I am following you site since two days and made two dishes already. So I am hooked with your site.
I have a quick question regarding this. Can I use rose petals instead of rose syrup?
If yes. what else need to be done.

  2. 5 stars
I’ve been making something similar with sweet rose tulsi tea, which I’ve gone through a box of in no time – both hot and cold. Plus loads of cardamom, coconut cream, and a little of the usual ‘bulletproof’ goop. ;> Most protein powders drive my GI tract crazy, so I added some almond butter and raw cacao butter.

But yours looks SO pretty and mine is drab. So I’m merging this with your strawberry rose iced tea recipe. 🙂 I have it steeping overnight in the fridge. I’ll find out tomorrow if I used enough berries… oh the carbs! Horrors! ;>

  3. Rock climbing sounds like so much fun and yay that you found a gym next door! So cool! This protein shake is the perfect way to fuel up! It’s SO beautiful! Love the bottle too!

  4. I’m so glad you guys enjoy working out and sports 🙂 This protein shake looks perfect! Love the flavors and the color is beautiful! And this shaker bottle, I’d love to get it!

  5. I love pretty pink drinks! And this one with rose and cardamom looks so inviting! Bet it was awesome! 🙂

  6. I LOVE that shaker bottle! It looks perfect for making delicious shakes. Love the creativity behind this shake! Rose and cardamom sound delightful. I bet the flavor is much easier to drink than boring vanilla or chocolate.

  7. What a fun shake, Manali! We haven’t been to a gym since Robbie was born, but we finally made the decision to get some equipment for here at home. We figured that way we can actually get back to working out again…which means we’ll need some delicious protein shakes! I love the rose + cardamom combo here. 🙂

  8. Oh my gosh, that pink!! This shake is seriously almost too pretty to drink but that’s definitely not gonna stop me! Obsessing over this one, Manali!

  9. The colour of this is stunning! I never used to like rose flavoured things, but I have really gotten in to it recently.
