Salted Caramel Mocha

Did I mention that I am learning to drive these days? Yes, after being in US for more than 3 years I finally decided to learn how to drive. Actually all this while we have been living in downtown where everything is at a walking distance so I didn’t really feel the need. But now that we have bought our own house which isn’t actually in downtown, it finally dawned upon me that I need to learn this.

I used to drive in India but driving in India and US is as different as chalk and cheese. First of all it’s right hand driving and then of course the biggest traffic rule in India is that there are no rules! There is no concept of lanes etc. so all this is very new to me. I drove on the freeway for the 1st time yesterday and I swear I was so so nervous that I wanted to stop the car in the middle of the road which obviously wasn’t possible! Had it been in India, I would have definitely stopped the car and asked hubby to drive but here I had to drive till we reached our destination. I am hoping to get over my fear of driving fast, actually I have never driven at such high speed so I feel like I have no control over the steering whenever the speed goes above 60 miles/hour. Hope to get better and also get my license soon enough.

After my driving adventure yesterday, the first thing that I wanted as soon as I came back home was a cup of coffee and because I had some leftover salted caramel sauce lying in my refrigerator I made this salted caramel mocha. The recipe is super simple and really taste as good as any salted caramel mocha which you would find in a cafe.

Salted Caramel Mocha Recipe-1

You can change the recipe according to how you like your coffee. Some like strong coffee, if you do too increase the amount of coffee to 3/4 cup to even 1 cup. If you like sweeter coffee, increase the amount of salted caramel sauce to 2 tablespoons. This ratio was perfect for me, but hey that’s just me you can change things are per your preference. To make this drink is ridiculously simple. First make some strong coffee and then in a pan mix the coffee with milk, cocoa powder and salted caramel sauce. Heat till it’s warm enough and then transfer to a cup. Top with whipped cream and some more salted caramel sauce and enjoy!

Homemade Salted Caramel Mocha

* I recommend using whole milk for best results.

* Adjust the amount of coffee and salted caramel to taste as mentioned in the post above.

  1. Salted caramel and Mocha in one cup? I’d have 10 of that, please.

  2. Before you know it, you will be driving like a pro. I remember when I first started driving, I was scared to drive over 45 mph, it felt so fast, and now I m passing everyone and my hubby tells me to slow down. Haha. Driving automatic is so much easier than driving a stick shift. (I m not sure if that’s what you drove in India, but that’s how it is in Europe) Honestly, i will be terrified to drive in India or any country with no lanes. 😀
Your Salted Caramel Mocha looks great, gorgeous pictures! I don’t drink Starkbucks often, but when I do, that’s what i order. 🙂

  3. you make the best looking coffee drinks!!!! and learning how to drive?! it’s hard enough learning how to drive but learning to drive in a new country? girl, you can do it!!! you just may need to switch out the coffee drink for something stronger. 🙂 at least you’re not learning to drive in LA .. then, I would say you might not want to! 🙂

    1. Thanks Alice! haha Seattle traffic is crazy enough for me, LA I can’t even imagine driving there. I have seen the rush when I was there! GOD!

  4. I remember feeling super nervous about driving too, and that was starting from a clean slate! I think it’s probably harder to unlearn things you knew from India to then relearn here in the US! It’s a challenge, definitely! It will feel like second nature in no time though! 🙂 I could really go for this Mocha right now! It looks so decadent!

  5. Congrats on learning how to drive! I am a big believer in driving. It provides independence and the ability to escape when needed. 🙂
This is a great use for your salted caramel sauce!

  6. Looks amazing and fabulous, Manali.. You have an awesome blog.. and driving in india.. that is some hair raising experience for me.. sitting on the backseat even if im not driving drives me crazy

  7. Learning to drive (or re-learning to drive) is always scary. Just take your time and believe in yourself – you’ve got this!
My Mum is going to LOVE this warm and tasty beverage. She is a huge salted caramel fan and often indulges in a mocha when we have coffee together. Now I can make her a combination of both! Thanks for sharing!
