    Happy Weekend guys! Mine is not off to a good start because I  injured my knee while running. I don’t think anything annoys me more than not being able to run around as I would normally do. I have been asked to take rest and anti-inflammatory drugs till things settle down a bit. The worst part is that I had so much trouble walking around the house today, seriously disturbs my whole schedule.

    Anyway let’s talk about food now because if food makes everything better. I thought a lot about sharing the recipe for cilantro mint chutney, should I share it or should I not share it? Simply because it’s so simple plus in India it’s like everyone makes this all the time at home. I have used this chutney in so many recipes like here and here and here too. So since I use it to much, it deserved a separate post and so here it is!

    To make cilantro mint chutney is extremely busy. You just need to blend fresh cilantro and mint leaves together along with some ginger, green chili, salt and lemon juice. I also added few spices but they are optional. Some people add garlic and onion too, so you can play around a bit with the flavor and see what works for you. Another thing which is commonly added to this chutney is yogurt. I love that version too.

    This chutney is a simple 3 step process.

    1. Add in the all ingredients in a blender.

    3. Add water to form a smooth paste

    Spread this green chutney (as it’s commonly refereed to) over sandwiches, wraps, burgers and see the magic! This chutney is always served with all Indian appetizers like samosa, pakodas (fritters) and lot more. For a stronger mint flavor, use 1 cup of mint leaves.

    PPS: If the cilantro mint chutney feels too spicy, simply add in some sugar or yogurt.

    Ingredients

    Instructions

    1. Mix all ingredients together in a blender. [except water]
    2. Blend till everything is crushed and combined.
    3. Add water, 1 teaspoon at a time to form a smooth paste.
    4. Check seasoning [salt, lemon juice, spices] and adjust to taste. Also adjust the consistency of the chutney according to preference by adding more or less water.
    5. Store chutney in the refrigerator.

    3. Yei!!! Finally cilantro mint chutney! I have been waiting for this recipe, in Mexico we used a lot cilantro in our salsas and sauces, that’s why I was interested in this chutney. It seems that the two of us had a bad weekend! I hope you feel better now, I hate taking drugs.
